The closer the date of birth, the more acute the need to make a decision - exactly where the miracle of the birth of your baby will occur. Despite the fact that the choice is now supported by a birth certificate, which gives future mothers the right to give preference to better hospitals, and doctors - to receive additional fees from the state, the majority of women are still worried about finding specialists and places.

What is the difference between paid and free births, and what is more profitable - to sign a contract in advance or make arrangements with doctors in the old-fashioned way, directly?

Free delivery by certificate

Every citizen of Russia who has timely registered with the antenatal clinic can receive a birth certificate. But in fact, this method does not make it possible to attach to any maternity hospital in advance, since directions are issued only to regional institutions assigned to the ZhK site. You can learn about your home in advance. The whole truth about doctors, midwives and neonatologists will be happy to be told by women who gave birth there during endless conversations in long lines of consultations and on review sites. This will allow you to get the right idea about the level and conditions of the hospital. In each city and region, as a rule, there are more popular hospitals, famous for their staff and places that are best avoided. If the maternity hospital in your area collects flattering reviews and recommendations, that’s great. But be careful when analyzing the information - pay attention to the qualifications of the staff, but you can close your eyes on some of the shortcomings in the conditions (number of seats in the room, repairs to the building, meals).

Childbirth by contract

Many are happy to take the opportunity to pay for a more attentive attitude towards themselves and for the right to pre-choose a hospital and their doctor. The advantages of this option seem obvious - you can view various programs of maternity hospitals, get acquainted with information about conditions, prices, staff level and choose the most suitable option. Antenatal care will allow specialists to prepare by selecting the optimal birth program, and women will feel more comfortable communicating with their doctor. Psychologically, it’s much easier for many to go to a familiar place for the baby, in addition, the staff will prepare the expectant mother for this exciting event, telling in detail what and how will happen in the process. Another advantage is the possibility of partner birth supported by most institutions, because for some women the presence of a spouse is very important. Well, as additional bonuses to the contract, there are also small household pluses - an improved ward and the absence of queues. Perhaps, only cost can be attributed to the shortcomings - the prices are quite high relative to the level of salaries, and not every Russian family is able to collect the required amount.

Delivery by arrangement

This method comes from the past and is, in fact, a bribe. Those who prefer this option argue with the benefit of the doctors themselves - after all, the lion's share of the payment under the contract passes by specialists, entering the cash desk of the institution. A personal arrangement allows you to bypass general accounting, enriching the doctor or obstetrician directly. Remuneration amounts vary - usually this is about half the cost of the contract, but a "bonus" is paid after the fact, in the case of a successful delivery. This is what attracts supporters of the agreement - the doctor should be interested in maximally pleasing the woman in labor, because otherwise he risks losing "gratitude." But there are significant disadvantages. Since childbirth is an irreversible and unpredictable process, and it’s impossible to agree with the baby about the birth of “his” doctor on duty, there is a great risk of being entrusted to another specialist.

I would argue that the most important thing is the qualifications of doctors, and the other factors can be neglected. Yes, a good specialist and will take birth in the middle of the street. But would it really be nice for you, the author, to be in a tattered ward without heating, where 25 more women in labor are huddled, and be afraid of staphillococcus, who walks around the hospital, only in the name of the midwives' golden hands?
