Periodontitis is an inflammatory process of periodontal disease that can occur due to infections, tooth injuries, or due to exposure to certain medications. The disease is extremely severe and requires long-term competent treatment.

There are many treatment options to avoid surgery, for example, if periodontitis is diagnosed, treatment at home will help to avoid complications.

Reasons for the development of periodontitis

The disease itself has two types:

1. Infectious origin. In this case, the infection enters from the dental canals into the periodontal tissue.

2. Non-infectious nature.

In this regard, all causes can be divided into infectious and non-infectious.

The first group includes:

1. Untimely treatment of pulpitis. Infection penetrates the periodontium and provokes the progression of the abscess.

2. Incorrectly placed seal. If the dentist didn’t do this when filling the tooth, the infection will begin to spread in the resulting void. As a result, it will begin to transition to periodontitis.

3. Incorrect installation of the crown. Periodontitis will begin to progress in the event that the crown is installed on a still living tooth or when it is installed, the rules are violated.

In addition to these, the causes of the disease can be mechanical injuries of tooth enamel or the negative effects of certain medications that cause allergic reactions.

First aid for periodontitis

With the onset of the first symptoms of periodontitis, which is accompanied by aching pain in the tooth, you need to take an analgesic.

After that, you can already resort to rinsing your mouth with a heated one percent solution of soda. It is important to remove any food debris from the tooth cavity.

The next step in the treatment of periodontitis at home is the placement of a cotton pad in the tooth cavity, where pain occurs. Pre-moisten the swab in medical alcohol.

After the described actions, a warm compress is necessarily applied to the sore cheek, prepared on the basis of warming components. The most commonly used vodka compress.

It is worth noting that at home, therapy can only be carried out in the event of an unreleased stage of the disease.

Periodontitis: home treatment

The first step is to eliminate the pain that occurs with the disease. To do this, use antiseptic solutions to rinse your mouth. Cope with this task:

1. Chlorhexidine. This tool has a very strong antimicrobial effect. When using it, irritation of the mucosa does not occur. With the disease, a 0.05% aqueous solution of chlorhexidine is used. All manipulations should be carried out four times a day until the pain subsides. If necessary, increase the number of sessions.

2. Dimexide. With periodontitis, treatment at home with a solution has an antiflogistic effect. After application, the pain subsides. Dimexide has antiseptic activity and significantly enhances the penetration of other drugs into the tissues. For the implementation of the procedures you need a 20% aqueous solution of the product. Rinse your mouth four times a day until the inflammatory process subsides.

3. Iodine tincture. It should immediately be noted that it is forbidden to swallow this solution. All iodine preparations have an antiseptic effect. When applying the solution, pain passes. To prepare a therapeutic agent, add 5-6 drops of iodine in a glass of chilled boiled liquid. To eliminate pain and manifestations of other ailments, manipulations should be performed 3-4 times a day.

4. Salt and soda. A solution of soda is used for many diseases. With periodontitis, rinsing with this solution has analgesic properties. All inflammatory processes are eliminated in a short period of time. In the case of a purulent form of the disease, the outflow of pus improves. To prepare the medicine in a glass of liquid, you need to dilute half a teaspoon of salt and the same amount of soda. Rinse your mouth for three minutes. Repeat steps every 2-2.5 hours. When the symptoms subside, it is possible to rinse three times a day.

5. Potassium permanganate. A solution using potassium permanganate will help stop the development of the disease. You can use the solution only a pinkish tint, otherwise it will be harmful to health. For one procedure, one glass is enough. Perform 3-4 procedures per day.

When preparing any solution, be sure to observe the proportions.
