The essence and plot of nightmares

In most cases, a person sees nightmares in the REM sleep phase in the middle of the night. They become the causes of awakening and worsening of further sleep. Causes of Nightmare Dreams

The appearance of scary and unpleasant dreams depends on certain factors. Children under 8 see nightmares more often than adults. The child’s brain is actively developing, therefore, does not have time to learn a large flow of incoming information that affects the sensitive and fragile psyche. As a result, the child's subconscious draws scary images. If parents bully a child in order to accustom him to order, the likelihood of nightmares increases.

Stresses, overwork, difficult situations in life entail emotional overstrain, due to which terrible dreams arise - they duplicate unpleasant life situations. Nightmares can also occur due to insomnia and other sleep disorders. In this case, a person’s dreams are chaotic, constantly interrupted by awakening and sometimes have an alarming frightening character. With insomnia, people tend to take various antidepressants and sleeping pills, but they can lengthen the phase of REM sleep, affect the brightness and nature of dreams.

How to get rid of nightmares?

Fighting scary dreams is necessary when they appear several times a month, lead to sleep disturbance and cause fear of falling asleep. If the causes of nightmares are external - stress and overwork, then a person should take a vacation and go on vacation. You need to refrain from watching frightening content in the media and try out relaxing treatments, such as a fragrant bath, yoga.

Going in for sports together with giving up bad habits and overeating will also benefit. If the causes of nightmares are psychological in nature, you should contact the appropriate specialist: psychologist, psychotherapist. Self-medication with available psychotropic drugs will only aggravate the situation.
